On Friday, 14 July 2023, a graduation ceremony was held for the graduates of the Faculty of Philology. The event was the culmination of several years of studying at the Faculty.

The auditorium was filled with graduates, their families and friends creating a solemn yet joyful atmosphere.

“There are two major celebrations, two big events, written into the calendar of every academic institution. One is the inauguration of the academic year and the other the graduation ceremony. While the former event is a very important celebration for each university as a whole, the awarding of diplomas, the finalisation of a certain stage of education, is a very important celebration for each faculty,” said the UO Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Izabella Pisarek.

“Thank you for being here and working with us, because what would a university be if there were no students in it? Once again, congratulations on all your achievements and on finalising the next stage in your lives. And of course, I encourage you to continue,” added the Vice-Rector.

The graduates were presented with their diplomas by their supervisors, accompanied by the Dr Małgorzata Adams-Tukiendorf, Vice- Dean of the Faculty of Philology, who also addressed the graduates during the ceremony. “I wish all the graduates who have completed their studies today and defended their bachelor’s and master’s theses much success, fulfilment of their goals and dreams, and that you do not give up and perhaps return to us for further studies which we have on offer,” she said.

After the official part, the graduates stood for a joint photo and the birettas flew up.
